Brent is a graduate of Bemidji State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Business Management. After receiving his degree in 1975, he worked for the CPA firm of Phillips & Johnson, P.A. in St. Paul, Minnesota, as a staff accountant in the tax department until being hired by 3M Company as a cost accountant in their Medical Products Division.
After several years in St. Paul, Brent took the position of Controller for a regional sized construction company in central Minnesota. During that time, he began marketing architectural services to the Funeral Industry and completed his first funeral home project in 1980. After eleven years in that position, he was hired by another regional contractor in central Minnesota where he further pursued the marketing of architectural services to the Funeral Industry. Since then, he has been involved in over 400 funeral home projects across the country.
In 1998, Brent partnered with Greg Bryant to develop a new company, Behrens Design & Development, Inc. This new business focused on providing architectural and interior design services along with real estate development services specifically for the Funeral Industry. No longer being involved with a general contractor, the Company was now able to provide its services throughout the entire Country as well as the Canadian Provinces. Since its inception, Behrens Design & Development has grown to become one of the largest architectural and interior design firms serving the Funeral Industry today.
